Etherington injury overshadows IU win

The Hoosiers defeated Central Connecticut 100-69 on Saturday night, but the victory was overshadowed by a knee injury suffered by Austin Etherington.

I didn’t see the injury at the time — I glanced down at my laptop just as it happened — but I have watched a replay. Best wishes to Etherington for a speedy recovery from what looked like a painful injury.

Here are my game stories for the Post-Tribune and the Tribune-Star, and here’s some quick notes:

— IU hit the century mark in points for the second time this season. Qdoba for 100 lucky ticketholders…

— IU scored 53 points in the first half, its most of the season. The Hoosiers have scored 50-plus in five halves this season.

— IU outrebounded CCSU 53-31. The +22 rebounding margin tied for IU’s best of the season (Sam Houston State), and was the first game this season in which the Hoosiers had 50-plus rebounds.

— Jordan Hulls moved into 40th on IU’s all-time scoring list. He has 1,077 points.
