Butler gets swept and IU loses its linebackers coach

Standard

Just a quick little bit here before I call it a night:

No. 15 Butler will almost certainly drop in the rankings and Saint Louis should break into the Top 25 after the Billikens completed a sweep of the Bulldogs with a 65-61 win tonight at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Here’s a link to my initial story for The Associated Press; I’ll put the later stories up on the Sportswriting page tomorrow. The Bulldogs had their chances but Saint Louis controlled the start of the second half to rally for the win. It certainly didn’t hurt that Saint Louis had a sizable crowd who made the trip over from Missouri to cheer on the Billikens, who are 26th in voting for the Top 25.

And a tidbit from my regular beat, as IU football coach Kevin Wilson reported via Twitter that LB coach Mike Ekeler was leaving Bloomington for USC, where he’ll coach the linebackers there. Ekeler’s the second defensive assistant to leave the Hoosiers in the off-season, with defensive tackles coach Mark Hagen having left for Texas A&M last month.

And that’s all for now.
