Funny how most of my journalism career ended up being in sports.

IU correspondent, Sept. 2010-March 2015

Don’t let anyone tell you networking doesn’t work. After my departure from The Republic, I reached out to one of my predecessors, Todd Golden, who was sports editor at The Terre Haute Tribune-Star. Todd found a few high school games for me to cover, then the following autumn, he asked me if I would like to cover Indiana University football and men’s basketball for the paper. Well, sure.

Meanwhile, the year before, I had applied for the IU correspondent job at The Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana. They ended up hiring someone else for the position, but the sports editor, Mark Lazarus, asked if I could cover some events when their local teams were in Indianapolis. Well, sure.

While I’m in the process of updating this page, I figured I would include a link to the work I did as a freelance correspondent for The Terre Haute Tribune-Star. Most of those stories are IU basketball and football game stories, but there’s quite a bit of high school game coverage as well. The links below are some of the more notable work from my time at The (Columbus, Ind.) Republic. Enjoy.
