Thanks to Purdue and Michigan, Hoosiers are Big Ten champions

Well, at the very least, Indiana has clinched a share of the Big Ten regular-season title. Purdue’s upset of Wisconsin and Michigan’s one-point win over Michigan State means the Hoosiers (13-3 in the Big Ten) can finish no worse than tied for first place in the conference. With two games left in the regular season, IU holds a two-game lead over Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

That also means the Hoosiers can clinch the title outright with a win Tuesday night over Ohio State. As if that game wasn’t big enough.

This seems like as good a place as any to point you to my stories from IU’s win Saturday night over Iowa. It wasn’t pretty, but the Hoosiers won 73-60. Both stories are linked over on the Sportswriting page as well, of course.

And one last note: IU football’s spring practice started Saturday. Media access was Sunday; I’ll have stories on that posted Monday morning …

Wisconsin 64, IU 59

Not going to spend a lot of time on this because 1) it’s 2:30 in the morning, and 2) I need to save some stuff for a follow-up story for Thursday’s Tribune-Star. But here’s my story for the Post-Tribune and my story for the Tribune-Star on IU’s 11th straight loss to Wisconsin. Say what you want about the Badgers’ style of basketball, but it works.
