Technically, this should have been posted on Wednesday, i.e. 78 weeks before the big 4-0. But my Wednesday got away from me.
Which is the point of this Countdown to 40 reboot.
Somewhere along the way in the past several weeks, the idea of using this countdown as a trip down memory lane lost its appeal. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that looking back through the mists of nostalgia is the last thing I need to be doing.
After all, the point of going back to school and putting together this website and getting in shape is to move forward, not look back. Been there, done that … now it’s time to move on.
I’m not saying that the blog won’t ever include my memories of some long-ago event … but I can’t do that on a weekly basis. There’s too much waiting ahead for me to accomplish.
Which leads me to the reboot of the Countdown to 40.
It dawned on me that there are a lot of things I want to do before I turn 40. Many of them were pretty obvious to me, while others … well, when I sat down to make a list, I came up with some things that weren’t at the top of my conscious thoughts.
No, I’m not going to list them all here, at least not yet. But I did come up with a list of 78 things I want to do in the 78 weeks (that’s a year and a half, you know) before I turn 40.
The goal, then, is to do at least one of those things each week between now and then, and I’ll write about it in this spot. Some of the things on my list are major, life-altering changes; others are quirky little things that seem cool to do.
So, there you go. I guess I better get started on this list.
